“I Am Happy To Join With You Today In What Will Go Down

â€Å"I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation.† (Lerone Bennett Jr. pg.125) Being a hero means to be a leader. To be a leader you have to have strength, courage, and commitment. In the 1960s, there were many leaders fighting for what they believe is the right of freedom and equality of all people. A major leader, Martin Luther King Jr. was involved in the Civil Rights Movement during the 60s. King was influenced by advocates of nonviolence such as Mahatma Gandhi. He wanted to seek equality for African Americans that were underprivileged and victims of injustice through peaceful protest. Prejudice matters, such as, slavery, freedom and rights, and†¦show more content†¦had such great strength, faith, and knowledge that he made the most difference and memorable events in American history. Martin Luther had hopes and dreams of changing the life of black people, giving them a free life that they deserve. In the book â€Å"What Manner of Man† it states, â€Å"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.† (Lerone Bennett Jr. pg.162) Martin Luther wasn’t only fighting for his generation but also the future generation. It gave a chance for others to have equality as all white Americans. Martin Luther King Jr. worked with a number of civil rights and religious groups, fighting for rights for jobs and freedom, and show unjust acts that African Americans continued to face across the country. Martin Luther King s speech, â€Å"I Have a Dream, a spirited call for peace and equality that many consider a masterpiece of rhetoric.
